Day 66/67 Burwash Landing & Beaver Creek, YT

Sorry again for lack of internet. But we got some new pictures, these are a collection from the past couple of days!!!!

After staying at a campsite two nights ago, we had a little rain come into Justin's five-person tent. We spent a little extra time mopping the water up. After that, we took off on our 80-mile adventure. We found ourselves biking through some pretty interesting territory. The roads were rough and all of us felt it on our joints when we finished for the day. Luckily we found a great spot to spend the night. They had free campsites, with showers! And they had some decent food as well. We were totally psyched when we got there.

We set up camp, made a fire, and talked with a few others who were camping. There was a couple who started bicycling in Fairbanks, AK, and said they planed on going to South America!!! They were completely self-contained also, meaning everything they owned was on their bikes.

This morning, we woke up, yet again, with water in the tent. Justin claims, and I quote, "The heat from inside the tent is causing the outside moisture to condense through the ground."

Yes, I laughed for a few minutes after he said that too.

After we took down the tent, I responded with, "Then why is the ground where the tent used to be still dry? I think we have a leak." Good thing we brought a few tents. We'll just have to use those next time we camp... which is in a few days.

As we biked today, we ran into some crazy weather. The cold wind and rain slowed us down a little, but we still managed to bike 110 miles to Beaver Creek, and got a motel room. We were all wet and freezing, and desperately wanted showers and a warm place to sleep.

For dinner, we had some great pizza at a place called Buckshot Betty's, where there were more diverse travelers: people from Anchorage, AZ, and NY! Now, I'm blogging from a computer in the local laundromat, doing three huge loads of laundry. The boys are taking showers at the motel... Justin freaked out when he had to help me put in some dirty clothes earlier. He said he touched dirty bike shorts that weren't his! Lol. I told him, don't worry, I'd take care of the rest. Poor J-Brown.

How are we? We're fine. A little tired, sore, and cold... but the sun's brighter than ever right now at 9:20 pm and we're hitting the Alaskan border tomorrow. We're so excited. A week from today we'll be celebrating with people in Anchorage.

We miss everyone, all the people we've run into and all the places we've called home for the past 67 days.

Until next time,
Alyson

After reading your blog religiously since March, I decided it was time to comment. I admire you all so much for going on this amazing journey. You have touched more people that you will ever know, and have inspired me to do things that I've always dreamed of doing.

Mark Twain wrote, "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

Congratulations on making it this far, all the best in the coming week. Thanks for everything you've done!

Praying for you and enjoy the journey, Molly
